This unique journey will remind you the ancient Silk Road, a famous trade between Xian (China) to Turkey. The witness of history the most fabled cities like Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand and picturesque Fergana Valley. Uzbekistan is famous for hospitality, colorful markets, blue domes, madrasas and mausoleums decorated with colorful glaze tiles. Most of the sites in Uzbekistan are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage.

Currently a negative PCR COVID-19 test is required 48 hours before departure flight to Uzbekistan.

Arrive at Urgench International Airport, transfer to hotel (Check-in after 14:00).

  • Ata Darvaza – One of four gates of Ichan Kala dating back to 1842.
  • Madrasah Allakuli Khan - Built in the middle of the XIX century with the richest decoration in Khiva.
  • Madrasah Muhammad Amin Khan – Erected during 1851-1854 by the order of Khiva ruler Muhammad Amin-khan.
  • Kalta Minar - Translated as “short”. Initially, it was expected to become the highest minaret in the East.
  • Kunya Ark - "Old fortress" was Khiva rulers' residence and inner citadel, founded in the XVII century.
  • Muhammad Rahimkhan Madrasah – built-in 1876 by order of Seyid Muhammad-Rahim II (1863-1910), known as the poet Feruzshah.
  • Juma Mosque – 16th century mosque with 213 elmwood pillars belonging to the different epoch of history starting from 10th century.

After breakfast drive to Goybu village for visiting one of the ancient Khorezmian local houses - Ulli Khovli. The guide will make 1-2 hours excursion through the village and clients will acknowledge with the traditional life style of Khorezmians.

PM return back to Khiva & continue to explore Ichan Qala:

  • Tosh Hovli Palace – Translated as “a stone courtyard”; built during 1830-1838 to replace Kunya Ark.
  • Islam Khodja Minaret and Madrasah - The ensemble dating back to the beginning of XX century was named after the Prime Minister - Isfandiar Khan who sponsored its construction.
  • Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum -  it is dedicated to the patron of Khorezm nation -  Pakhlavan Makhmud, a famous poet and wrestler of XIV century.

Relaxed breakfast & drive to Bukhara, a city as old as human records. You will pass through the beautiful Kyzylkum Desert; as the winding road takes you a stone throw away from the Amu Darya, where you will stop for some scenic pictures. You will have a lunch with some shashlik/barbeque at a local teahouse. Once you have had a chance to stretch your legs a little, the journey will continue to its final destination.

Full-day excursion of the Noble Bukhara - ‘Second Bagdad’ in Islamic World. It is a city of contrasts where modern life exists in the ancient town. Visit the following historical places:

  • Labi Hauz complex- architectural ensemble Lyabi-Khauz is formed with three large monumental buildings: Kukeldash Madrasah, Khanaka and Nodir Divan-begi.
  • Jewish Synagogue, functioning synagogue built in 16th century.
  • Magoki Attori Mosque, built on the site of the pre-lslamic Moh temple.
  • Trade Domes , Bozori Kord Khammam (Sauna bathroom)-dating back to XIV century.
  • Abdullakhan Tim-a huge roofed shopping passage of XVI century.
  • Ulugbeg madrassahs – the only survived building in Bukhara of Timurid-era.
  • Abdulazizkhan madrassahs - is a part of architectural ensemble of Ulugbek Madrasah.
  • Poi Kalyan complex with Kalyan Minaret, Kalyan mosque and Miri Arab madrassah.
  • Ark fortress - the most ancient architectural and archaeological monument.
  • Bolo Hauz Mosque - one of the most significant historical monuments built  in 1712. 
  • Chashmai Ayub – the mysterious building in Bukhara related to biblical Job-Ayub.
  • Ismail Samani mausoleum –The earliest Islamic tomb to survive in Central Asia.
  • Chor Minor – A remarkable building with 4 minarets constructed in 1807.

Fayzulla Khodjaev Museum (House) -Bukharian architectural style of the late XIX century.

After breakfast drive to Shakhrisabz, a motherland of Amir Timur the Great.

Upon arrival transfer to hotel, leave the baggage, fresh up & proceed for city tour (Check-in after 14:00). Explore Shakhrisabz:

  1. Aksarai Palace - miracle residence of Amir Timur.
  2. Dorus Saodat complex - it arose after the death of the eldest son of Amir Temur - Jakhangir (1376).
  3. Dorut Tilovat complex inc. Kuk Gumbaz mosque, Gumbazi Sayidon, Mausoleum of Jakhangir.
  4. Hazrati Imom mosque - a 19th-century building most probably linking to Abu Abdulla Muhammad ibn Nasr al Keshi, a local holy man in the 9th century, whose corpse, legend says, Tamerlane brought back from Baghdad.

Visit Yulduz opa’s textile workshop. Here you can see the process of producing carpets and national clothes. Dinner with local artist family

After breakfast drive to Samarkand via Takhtakarachi pass. Upon arrival transfer to hotel, leave the baggage, fresh up & proceed for city tour (Check-in after 14:00). Exploring Samarkand described as Eden of the East. Admire the colorful tiles, turquoise domes, giant-sized medieval constructions. Visit includes:

  • Registan Square- 'Sandy Place' a medieval commercial center.
  • Happy Bird Craft Center- meet with local artists.
  • Bibi Khanym Mosque - once the largest and most magnificent mosques in the world.
  • Famous Siyob bazaar.
  • Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum - the final resting place for Timur (Tamerlane), his two sons and two grandsons.

Enjoy mini concert and mini lecture about national music instruments at Sherdor Medrassah.

Illuminated city tour (visit outside Registan Square & Gur Emir Mausoleum).

Today, continue to explore ancient Samarkand:

  • Shah-i-Zinda - 'Tomb of the living King' an avenue of Mausoleums with one of the richest tiles works. It is connected with the legend that Qusam ibn Abbas, a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (swa) is buried here.
  • Afrosiab Museum - located at the historical site of Afrasiyab.
  • Ulugbek Observatory - one of the finest observatories in the Islamic world.
  • Kalantarov’s House Museum (an old mansion, once owned by a rich merchant Kalantarov Abram built in the early XX century by the architect E.O.Nelle in the eclectic style, is located the Museum of local lore).

Khudjum carpet factory – witnessing all stages of silk carpets creation, from unwinding the silkworm cocoon to drawing carpet ornament. All operations are performed manually.

  • Hodja Doniyor Mausoleum (Saint Daniil) is one of the most famous religious sites in Samarkand, was built in the time of Tamerlan in 1900.
  • Hazrat Hizr Mosque (Hazret-Khizr, Hazrat-Khizra), built in the XIX century.

  • Hastimon Complex (Barak Khan Madrassah, Muyi Muborak library with Holy Osmani Koran, Tillya Sheikh Mosque, and Kaffal Shashiy Mausoleum).
  • Chorsu Bazaar - One of the most authentic historical markets of Uzbekistan.
  • Kukeldash Medresah-still functioning Medresah belonging to XVI c.
  • Applied Art Museum-unique collection of more than 7,000 pieces of traditional folk art, starting from the first half of XIX century until modern times.
  • Modern part: Tashkent Metro - Underground which is famous for its cleanness and architectural designs; Amir Temur Square, walking through famous Sailgokh street where local artists are selling their artworks, Independence Square, Alisher Navoi Theatre Square, Earthquake monument dedicated to the earthquake of 1966.

Visit ceramist Rakhimov’s workshop (famous ceramist in Uzbekistan) with traditional tea drinking.

In the morning transfer to train station and take O’zbekiston #060 train (08:07-12:07) to Kokand. Upon arrival visit:

  • Khudoyar Khan’s Palace (XIX c.) – also known as Kokand Urda used to be residence of the last khan of Kokand Khanate.
  • Jami architectural complex (XVIII-XIX c.) – It consists of a madrasah and a functioning mosque. 
  • Modari Khan Mausoleum (XIX c.)-Built by the order of Uzbek poetess-Nodira for the memory of her mother-in-law.
  • Norbutabey Madrasah (XVIII c.) – Built during 1796-1788, it even functioned during the Soviet era to gain wartime support from Muslim leaders.
  • Dakhma-I-Shokhon (XIX c.) - A necropolis of Kokand khans

Unique Experiences

Transfer to angora workshop by Vinera, the fourth generation in the family where they made knitwear. The whole family knitted shawl cobwebs for sale. She has been working with wool for more than forty years. In Soviet times, this was prosecuted by law. Now, handicraft in Uzbekistan is considered one of the most prestigious occupations. In 2012, Mrs. Vinera Kallimulina received the UNESCO quality mark (the quality standard of craft products, which means its compliance with the requirements of quality, culture and the market). During the visit you will see how the high-quality wool is washed, sorted. Then yarn is made manually and the product is knitted.

After visiting drive to Fergana. Upon arrival transfer to hotel.

After breakfast drive to Rishtan, where locals have been producing unique ceramics for 800 years passing the secrets of the craft from generation to generation. Visit:

  • An award-winning master potter and learn how ceramics are made from special red clay extracted only in Rishtan. Rishtan ceramics enchant with its ultramarine and turquoise coloring, and the "ishkor" pattern.

Continue drive to Margilan.  City tour:

  • Visit Said Akhmad-Khoja Madrasah. Today, madrasah is a home to a number of craftsmen producing handmade carpets and silk. Have a walk on traditional market and continue to Yodgorlik Silk factory to see the production process of silk with traditional Ikat patterns.

After visiting transfer back to Fergana.
