Bolo Hauz Mosque is the most important mosque in the city. There was time when Emir of Bukhara himself performed prayers every Friday followed by thousands of Muslims. From very far Bolo Hauz mosque looks beautiful with its twenty columns of an unusual height.

Poi-Kalon complex was center for scholars and still have active madrassa for higher Islamic studies. The minaret is full of decor with geometric, square and circle shape bricks.

It is a long drive to Bukhara through the famous Red Sands desert. The road runs along Amu Daria. We will stop on the shore to take photos and to relax in nature. Middle of the desert stop for lunch at the roadside tea house before hitting towards Bukhara, whose age exceeds 2500 years.

Morning flight to Urgench, the capital of the Khorazm province, situated between the river Amu (In Uzbek is called Amu Darya) and Tashaoz, the Turkmen border.

Upon arrival drive to historical city of Khiva. Make a little diversion for visit a traditional village Ulli hovli.

Arrive Khiva, fresh up and proceed for walking tour of ancient Ichan Qala, an architectural treasure which is extensively restored with mud-walled and has four main entrance gates. This open sky museum have numerous historical sites which are waiting your visit:

Madrassah Allakuli Khan-the largest religious school, built in 1834 on the own funds of Khiva khanate khan.

Madrasah Muhammad Amin Khan– two-story madrassa built by Muhammad Amin Khan in 1851-1854 years.

Kunya Ark– «old castle» was built in the end of 17th century in 1686-1688 by Anushakhan’s son Arangakhan.

Kelte Minar– «Low tower» was constructed in the 19 century by the ruler Mukhammad Amin-khan.

Pakhlavan Mahmud Mausoleum– pay tribute to great saint of  14th century, the building was built in the form of small barracks, where the body of the great “Piri” Pakhlavan Mahmud  (1247-1326) was buried.

Islam Khoja Minaret is one of the pearls of Ichan-Kala – Khiva’s historical part, which was the first Uzbekistan’s site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990.

Madrasah Muhammad Rahimkhan, built in the middle of the 19th century by order of Seid Muhammad Rahim Khan II.

Juma Masjid– interesting for the 218 wooden columns supporting its roof – a concept thought to be derived from ancient Arabian mosques. Six or seven of the columns date from the original 10th-century mosque (see if you can spot them), though the present building dates from the 18th century.
